Willem EN | COLLEGIUM MUSICUM Den Haag
Dr. Willem F. Korthals Altes

'Although I have always worked in the legal profession (since 1995 in the judiciary), music has been an important part of my life since childhood. Piano lessons, singing Bach’s St. Matthew Passion in Naarden as a member of the boys choir conducted by Anton van der Horst, and many performances in school as a pianist – solo, but also together with others – provide the nucleus of the musical activities of my youth. Later on, I was a member of several choirs (Amsterdam Oratorio Choir, New York Choral Society, Choir of the Concertgebouw Orchestra, Netherlands Concert Choir) and, during a couple of years, of a close harmony quartet. In addition, I drew a lot of pleasure from being a member (and for seven years as chairman) of the board of Combattimento Consort Amsterdam.

All important reasons why currently I so much enjoy being part of COLLEGIUM MUSICUM Den Haag: a young orchestra that wants to conquer a place in the world of baroque music. I hope I will be able to contribute to this goal.'
