Maud EN | COLLEGIUM MUSICUM Den Haag
Maud Arkesteijn

'My life has been filled with music from the start. My mother, a classical singer/pedagogue and piano player, played Bach every day during my pre-birth period, and she sang it as well. So it is logical that Bach’s music became one of my very favourites.
At the age of 5, I went to the Naarden Church with my mother to attend Bach’s St. Matthew Passion for the very first time. It was a great and impressive experience and my love for music was created there for life. Every year since, I have attended this wonderful experience. I like to hear baroque music, period instruments, but also opera, Mozart, Scarlatti, Vivaldi and many other composers. This makes me a frequent concert visitor.
As a youngster, I sang in different choirs and I played the piano. Till today, music is very important in my life: many times I worked at and organised concerts and music events and also festivals, like the Naarden music festival.

For many a year I have enjoyed the pleasure of hosting young talented musicians attending the Kondrashin and Liszt competitions.

Being an independent entrepreneur by profession (MacConsultancy, see www.maudarkesteijn.nl), I for quite a while was also active in politics (e.g. Alderman/Vice Mayor in Naarden). Nowadays I am still a member of various (inter-) national cultural and social boards (e.g. International Walled Towns Friendship Circle(WTFC) and President of the Association “Vrienden van het Gooi”.

COLLEGIUM MUSICUM Den Haag is a very inspiring and ambitious young international orchestra with a great future and I am honoured to help them to achieve their ambitions for the future.'
