In 1715 Alessandro Scarlatti began in Naples the composition of his 12 'Sinfonie di Concerto Grosso'. Ten years later in The Hague, Count Unico van Wassenaer-Obdam started to write his 6 'Concerti Armonici'.

COLLEGIUM MUSICUM Den Haag, directed by harpsichordist Claudio Ribeiro, presents three pieces from each collection, showing the beauty, craftsmanship and colorfulness of the baroque Concerto. The audience will hear the music that was played at the Court of Naples and the repertoire of the 'Haagse' Nobility in the 18th century.

The choice of locations for the concerts was based on the history of Unico van Wassenaer: the first concert is at the Faculty of Law of the University of Leiden - van Wassenaer studied Law at that University between 1710 and 1713 - and the second takes place at the Paleiskerk in Den Haag, in the neighborhood of Noordeinde and Paleis Kneuterdijk, where he lived.
